02/10/22 - 2022 Executive Board & RESPA Local NEA-RA Delegates Elections

Executive Board and Directors at Large positions are up for election for a two-year term (2022-2023 & 2023-2024) unless noted differently on the nomination form. The NEA Representative Assembly (RA) Delegates (in Chicago, IL) are for one year (2022-2023). Positions are listed below.


Executive Board: Vice-President Secretary Treasurer Directors at Large: Clerical Safety Fiscal & Technical Maintenance & Operations The attached nomination form is for any member who is interested in running for the Executive Board positions. Director at Large positions are only for those who work in those job classifications.


You must read all forms to complete them correctly, sign and return by 3:30 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2022 to Peter Castellanos – RESPA Office.


I encourage each nominee to provide a photo with your nomination and biographical sketch forms.

Election process and timeline:


February 10, 2022 – Announcement of vacancies February 10, 2022 - Declaration of Candidacy Forms distributed via email to all members and posted on RESPA’s website.


February 18, 2022 – Declaration of Candidacy Forms must be received by 3:30 p.m. - Peter Castellanos, Election Chair – RESPA Office. Post marked not accepted.


February 19, 2022 – Acknowledgment of Declaration of Candidacy February 20, 2022 – Candidates may begin active campaigning. For example, flyer distribution, etc.


February 20, 2022 – Preparation of campaign statements, electronic voting material, paper ballots, voter registration roster, sign-in sheet.


February 20, 2022 – Distribution of materials to all members via email to post at their sites, share with all members, post on RESPA’s website, provide candidates with a membership roster. Page 2 of 3 February 28 – March 7, 2022 – Electronic voting window open until 4:30 p.m. For paper ballot, it must be requested from Peter Castellanos – Elections Chair and ballot must be turned in by 4:30 p.m. RESPA office.


March 4, 2022 – Deadline to inform the Peter Castellanos, Elections Chair if a candidate and/or designee will be observing the counting of the ballots.


March 7, 2022 – Paper ballots counting at the RESPA office starting at 4:45 p.m.


March 11, 2022 – Announcement of results via email, and materials to post at each site, which shall be no later than five (5) calendar days following the counting of ballots. This will include a run-off announcement (if necessary).


March 18, 2022 – Election challenge must be received by 12:00 p.m. – Peter Castellanos – Elections Chair RESPA Office. Unless there is a run-off election. Post marked not accepted.


March 23 - 30, 2022 - Run-off election if necessary.


March 22, 2022 - Deadline to inform the Peter Castellanos, Elections Chair if a candidate and/or designee will be observing the counting of the ballots.


March 30, 2022 – Run-off paper ballot and voter roster, sign-in sheets will close by 12:00 p.m. for counting. March 31, 2022 – Announce run-off results via email.


March 31, 2022 – NEA RA Delegates who have been elected to both state and local delegate positions must notify the San Gorgonio Service Center Council and their local in writing of the position accepted (delegates may not hold both positions).


April 1, 2022 – CTA State successor delegates to be notified should there be a position available due to a state delegate choosing to go as a local delegate.


April 2, 2022 – A challenge to the election including the run-off election must be received by 12:00 p.m. – Peter Castellanos – RESPA Office. Post marked date not accepted.

February 25, 2021 – 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm February 26, 2021 – Paper ballots counting at the RESPA office starting at 9:00 am. Page 3 of 3


March 1, 2021 – Announcement of results via email, and materials to post at each site. This will include a run-off announcement (if necessary).
